I see this message all the time and it's always because the device is unplugged or a configuration issue. If you go to settings then to the hardware page you can see if your device is connected to home assistant. Try unplugging it and plugging it back in if it's not recognized. If it is recognized then check your config file.It is not very obvious that you need to save the settings from the Quick Start Guide. To me saying "the template Docker Compose file maps the Z-Wave stick to /dev/zwave" made me assume that it would already be configured for /dev/zwave especially because this is pre-populated in the settings to make it seem like it is pre-configured.
