Usually it doesn’t have enough nutrients for the myc, so even if it does colonize you might get some wimpy fruits. White rice is the reason many claimed in the beginning that UBs don’t work. The second reason is that sclerotia are already easy to grow anyway. Seriously. You don’t need Uncle Ben’s. As long as you can sterilize a container of grain, you’re good to go. If you don’t have access to a pressure cooker, you can use brown rice in a plastic container, à la “Broke Boi Tek.”.
Doing it that way will take a while. I get mycelium going on agar plates, when the agar is fully covered in mycelium (1-2 weeks) I transfer that to the Uncle Ben's rice. From agar to fully colonized Uncle Ben's bag, ehh about a month with good consistent temperature.
