Here is my Marlin 1894P 44 mag. That is a 3-9X Leupold scope mounted in heavy-duty military grade quick-detach mounts. At 100 yards I can plug pop cans all day long standing without a rest. It is dead nuts on @ 50 yards, and if I hold at the top of a pop can @ 100 yards it is going to get nailed. I LOVE this gun!!!

The Winchester is definately slimmer and lighter. But the slightly lighter weight doesn't make recoil an issue with .357 Magnums! And .38 Specials are almost like shooting a .22LR!But its like comparing two whole different designs. The when the 1894 Win was birthed, it was designed for the mid length rounds, 30 30 etc, same as the 1893 Marlin. The 1894 Marlin of course was designed for the short now near obsolete rounds like the 25 20 and similar length rounds. The Win counterpart was the 1892 model.
