I really liked how realistic and sad this movie can be at times but the downside is that it is really bloody and to the point where you see open flesh, people in half, and people missing limbs. Hacksaw Ridge takes everything and turns it up to 11, in fact it really detracts from the real life heroism of Doss and his comrades. Its overly jingoistic, cartoonish, and corny.
