The engine now has D3VE heads and is probably in the range of 7.5:1--8.0:1 compression. I figure losing almost 20cc in the combustion chamber should maybe bump compression into the 9.0:1+ range. Any thoughts?

Just as Dan said the D3VE's are closed chamber heads. The D2's are open chamber and yes those are prone to detonation (the D2's only). D3's are really close-port wise-to the D0VE's but obviously the D3's have bolt-down rockers and bigger chambers. The E7's have TINY ports and-well-the only intake that fits them is the EFI intake (fuelie's).The kit has the rocker arm, ball and nut and fits on a 7/16 inch stud. The number for the 7/16 stud is 214-1068. There is another kit for the d0ve and CJ. It has the rail rocker, ball and nut and the number is 214-1154. The rail rocker may cause problems as the rail may come in contact with the spring retainer.
