Its speed means you can get hits in even in very narrow openings, and being able to exploit even very slight mistakes rather than having to wait for the optimal time to strike WILL make you deal more damage in the long run, even disregarding counter damage.Uchi is one of the best weapons in the game, just get it to normal +15 with 40 Dex and it will be extremely good. Yes, just don't forget about 1H R2, many "armored" enemies are resistant to slashing damage. Only good as a dex build! If you're making a DEX build - then upgrade it to +15 on the standard upgrade path, because the Uchigatana scales with DEX. That's what a build is - you choose a weapon, look what stats it receives scaling bonus damage from and then level those stats.
