The CB0178-12 I use for my 3/4 oz. 12 gauge loads would be the only wad that would come anywhere near working and you'd have to add a LOT of filler to each payload to even approach a decent crimp. With that much hull volume and that ultralight load a powder charge that wouldn't end up as near squibs would be sheer guesswork.

I've used the Claybuster CB1118-12 (WAA12 type) for some of my 1-1/8 oz loads, they seem to work OK at just a little over 1200 FPS but hadn't tried the CB0178's. I haven't had too much trouble with the crimps, but I'm only on my 2nd or 3rd time around on most of these hulls.

I did an experiment with 7/8 @ 1200 with the CB4100-12B vs the CB0178-12. I don't remember the specifics, but I do remember the CB-0178 (4-petal) has the hot core that is often talked about with 7/8 sub-1250 loads in the 12 gauge.

With any of those (or the AA) use either the WAA12L gray wad or its Claybuster clone, the CB0178-12. They produce excellent crimps with either 7/8 or 1 oz. A MEC No. 28 bushing will give you 15.5 grains of 700-X and a No. 29 about 16.3. Use the No. 28 for a lighter load and about 1150 fps.

The CB1100-12 and CB0178-12 wads need a lot more powder by volume than the DRXXL pink wad. The CB wads have a slightly larger powder cup diameter and are deeper.
